I acknowledge that the mental health system is rooted in and influenced by White supremacy, patriarchy, settler colonialism and capitalism. I recognize the structural and societal barriers that impact service recipients, including racism, heteronormativity, religious coercion, and the disproportionate effects of climate change. As a service provider in this mental health system, I am mindful of my personal and structural privilege and the impacts it could have on my therapeutic practice, and I intentionally work toward changing these systems.

Josh Bowling (he/him) is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Integrative Mental Health Professional. He cultivates care through a collaborative, person-centered, and trauma-informed approach, utilizing interventions such as mindfulness, breathwork, CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy), DBT (dialectical behavioral therapy), and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). He treats symptoms of anxiety, depression, ADHD, PTSD, and grief. Josh obtained his Master of Science in Social Work from the Kent School of Social Work at the University of Louisville, specializing in Mental Health.
Josh is an experienced clinical social worker with a background in Queer youth advocacy, intervention evaluation and efficacy, training, exploitation and human trafficking prevention, pharmaceutical patient service advocacy, and community mental health. He has acquired experience in micro, mezzo, and macro settings and served in direct practice, case management, program coordination, and supervisory roles in non-profit, for-profit, and academic settings.
Josh received his Master of Science in Social Work (MSSW) in 2018. While studying, Josh was a Gay-Straight-Trans Alliance (GSTA) coordinator for an LGBTQ+ nonprofit youth group. He also trained organizations in trauma informed care practices with a project of the Kent School of Social Work as part of his practicum experience. Following graduation, he worked in the anti-human trafficking field as an exploitation prevention group coordinator across the state of Kentucky. During this time, he also served on multiple localized Human Trafficking Task Forces.
Following these experiences, he served as a patient advocate in the pharmaceutical patient services industry. Here, he learned the complications of the health insurance industrial complex and its impact on patients. Most recently, after serving as a Community Support Associate, Josh was a Clinical Therapist with a community mental health agency, where he developed a grief support group and completed training in Motivational Interviewing, 7 Challenges, TF-CBT, EMDR, and Shinrin Yoku.
Josh also has extensive church and non-profit experience, including service as a volunteer and co-interim youth minister with a local Catholic youth group; assisting with outreach with an LGBTQ+ affirming church group; as Vice-President of a child welfare advocacy nonprofit; and as member of the board for a fair-trade marketplace, advocating for fair trade principles of artisans across the world. He has also consulted with an anti-trafficking non-profit, providing technical support, co-developing a Queer Human Trafficking conference, and pyschoeducational module development.
Josh is currently a Clinical Therapist with Bridge Counseling & Wellness in Louisville, KY and is growing as a small business owner as the Founder + Managing Director of Selene + Asteria, offering public speaking and non-profit consulting services as well as classes and events pertaining to Shinrin Yoku, somatic healing, and Hatha yoga.
